Kelvin Sampson, the head coach for the University of Houston of the American Athletic Conference, frequently talks about his parents, whether it is a happy, sad, or proud moment.
Many might not know that Kelvin has taken over his father’s legacy, as he was also a basketball coach.
His gratitude, appreciation, and love towards his parents, is something everybody adores.
And it must be why Kelvin fans are longing to know about the proud parents of the head coach for the University of Houston.
So, let’s see what we got for you about Ned and Eva Sampson.
Who Are Kelvin Sampson Parents?
Kelvin is among four children of John W. NED Sampson and his wife, Eva Sampson.
As mentioned above, Ned was a basketball coach and enjoyed a career of more than 34-years with Pembroke High School.
Starting from 1952 to 1983, it took a stroke to make him stay out of the court.
Similarly, Ned was also among the hundreds of the Lumbee Tribe who prevented a KKK rally and ran out the Ku Klux Klan out of Maxton, North Carolina, in 1958.
The victory is now known as the “Battle of Hayes Pond,”
On the other hand, there is very little information about Eva. She seems to be a housemaker and mother to four children-Ursula, twins Kelvin and Karen, and Suzanne.
Eva Sampson & John Sampson Today
Saddening but true. Neither Eva nor Ned are alive to this day.
And this seems to be the reason why Kelvin always gets emotional while talking about them.
They died within five weeks of each other in 2014.
Remembering his mother, Kevin once said, his personality is like his mother’s. She was fiery, with more of a temper, and filled with a determination of doing anything.
How Old Are They?
There are no results regarding their age. But, they could have died because of old age, given that they died in 2014 when Kelvin was 59-years-old.
Similarly, Ned once suffered from a brain aneurysm in 2022.
On the other hand, Kelvin was born on 5 October 1955 in the Lumbee Native American community of Deep Branch in Robeson County, North Carolina.
